Matt Winwood in his Pittsburgh home studio

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Built from scratch.

Matt Winwood is a Pittsburgh-based independent alternative rock singer, songwriter, and producer. A multi-instrumentalist, he builds songs from the ground up in his home studio, moving between melodic pop-punk, modern rock, and heavier post-hardcore territory.

Music started as a private obsession and became a complete independent process: writing, arranging, performing, recording, and shaping songs in a one-room Pittsburgh studio. The catalog moves between emotionally direct alternative rock, melodic pop-punk, and heavier post-hardcore.

An early musical memory is hearing blink-182 through a scratched portable CD player. The records that stayed closest came from artists willing to combine melody with weight and atmosphere—especially Thrice, Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon, and A Day To Remember.

One career moment stands above the rest so far: hearing an original song come through the radio between artists Matt grew up listening to. The long-term target is equally simple—a definitive full-length record that captures exactly who he is at that moment.
